Taylor Tidbits: Staph Infections Stink!

Unfortunately S was diagnosed with a staph infection this week. We thought it was just a bug bite a week ago but then last Sunday we knew something was really wrong when it had grown very large and was very sensitive. A trip to an after hours pediatric care office proved to confirm it was a serious skin infection and not a bug bite. T graciously offered to take her to the dr. that morning knowing the alternative was to teach 30 Kindergartners for me at church. T said S was in horrific pain and she verbally let those dr.'s know she did not want them to touch her! He said that was pretty funny because her usually personality of being quiet and shy took a turn when she literally started yelling and pointing at the dr.'s saying "leave me alone!" and "you don't touch me!",which is hilarious! She did get a new bracelet, bouncy ball, stickers and Popsicle out of the visit tough. I am not sure it was anywhere near worth it in her eyes. They put her on a very strong antibiotic which she is to take 2 teaspoons full 3 times a day for 10 days! It wouldn't be so bad except for one of the side effects is an upset stomach and if she gets an upset stomach we are not supposed to give her medicine to help her tummy feel better. So as of today (day 5) she is hanging in there pretty well. Only about once or twice a day she will complain that her tummy hurts. We pray her tummy stays strong for the next several days. The meds are working though because her skin infection is completely healed! Praise God! I heard of a couple of kids who got this last year in her school who ended up in the hospital for several days so I am VERY thankful we caught it in time!

Funny 5-year-old thought: One evening this week we were walking down the street and T asked S if he could bounce her bouncy ball in the street. S gave her prized posession to him and T said "Watch and see how high it goes." S and K watched as T bounced the ball and were amazed and excited about how high it went in the sky. T got ready to do it again and S said "Daddy, don't bounce it too high this time 'cause it might get stuck in the clouds."

S came in the kitchen one day with this on....the cow pants are under the dress! What makes this really funny is that this was her Halloween outfit when she was 2 (3 years ago)!
