"Howdy Folks!"

We have had a great weekend! Once again enjoying the gorgeous weather! Friday afternoon we went to the state fair and had a wonderful time. S is the student of the week next week at school and so she is responsible for caring for the class mascot Penny Penguin this weekend. That is why Penny is in so many of the photos! I think Penny has had a great weekend as well! There was a little farm at the fair that the girls got to pretend to be farmers. They collected eggs from chickens (all pretend), planted a seed in a garden, took some food to the sheep on a tractor and collected wool from the sheep! Then they sold their "products" at the market in exchange for a dollar. With the dollar they could go to the store and by a real snack. It was so neat to see them be farmers and then turn around and buy some food at the store from their hard work! Then we went and saw some cows and sheep getting a bath (just before they were sold at auction....the girls don't know that part). After that we saw a a four year old pig that weighed over 1100 pounds! Then we went and saw some dancing dogs (not the highlight of the day....T wanted to leave half-way through the show but I told him no it would be rude even though we had all seen enough dancing dogs). We also went to a petting farm and saw a mama pig and her piglets, a baby giraffe, a baby zebra, a tortoise, a woolly sheep who woke up and went directly over to K to be fed (K was ecstatic!), and lots of other animals! Then we went and saw some pig races which were much more entertaining than the dogs! We ate the world famous Fletcher's corny dogs with lots of mustard and saw Big Tex! Before leaving we watched the lights parade which both girls really enjoyed. Overall we had a fantastic time and the girls fell asleep as soon as they we hit the road! Today T spent most of his day taking apart a rusty swing set for the girls. A friend of a friend said we could have it so I took her up on it....can't pass up a bargain and the girls would love it. T was not having great thoughts of this idea after 5 hours and several broken tools in to the removal of the swing set from their yard! It is also too big for our current back yard so we need to move to even enjoy it! I think T needs some time to recoup before putting it all back together anyways! He is the greatest husband ever! S had a birthday party today so I took her and K (because T was still busy dismantling swings!) and of course Penny came along too! It was at a gymnastics center so S had a blast jumping on trampolines, swinging on ropes and jumping into the pit. K did amazingly well just watching and enjoyed being able to baby-sit Penny for her sister. Needless to say the girls are exhausted and sleeping well in their beds tonight!
